We’re looking for someone who cares deeply about people, enjoys bringing clarity and structure to a workplace, and wants to help create a warm, supportive environment for everyone on our team. This is a standalone HR role, which means you’ll have a broad range of responsibilities and plenty of room to shape how our team grows and works together. You will report directly to the CEO and collaborate closely with the management team and team leads.

About Sitly

Join Sitly, an online marketplace that connects families with nannies and babysitters across 14 countries in Europe, Latin America, North America, and Asia.

Sitly’s user base grows by millions every year, and we have set ambitious goals to enhance our service and become the world’s leading childcare platform. A place where any parent can find the right babysitter within a day.

We are a team of around 40 people, with 20 colleagues based in our Amsterdam office and another 20 working remotely across different countries. Our office is located on the Rokin in the heart of Amsterdam, directly across from the North-South metro line station.

Your role

As People & Culture Manager at Sitly, you will work across the full people experience, from recruitment and onboarding to personal development, culture, and performance. You will play a key role in shaping how we grow as a team by strengthening our values, supporting managers, and building practices that help people do their best work.

This is a broad, people-focused role for someone who enjoys variety, cares deeply about culture and development, and can bring clarity and structure to how teams work and grow together.

Key qualities we value:

Deep listener: You can listen deeply, ask the right questions, and you are eager to truly understand.

Effective communicator: You communicate gently and clearly, and you naturally create a safe atmosphere.

Culturally aware and relationship-driven: You are good at working with different personalities, backgrounds, and cultures. You build trust easily and help teams work together better.

Self-motivated and proactive: You don’t wait to be told what to do. You spot opportunities to improve our people experience, bring ideas forward, and follow through with intention.

Innovative and improvement-minded: You enjoy creating new approaches, refining existing ones, and building HR practices that actually work for us, not just copying what other companies do.

Structured, thoughtful, and reliable in execution: You bring clarity, organise complex topics, and make sure initiatives move from idea to action. You follow through, keep people aligned, and ensure that details are taken care of.

Responsibilities

Recruitment: You lead the recruitment process, conduct interviews and work closely with hiring managers to find and select strong candidates while ensuring a smooth and positive experience for everyone involved.

Onboarding: You own and evolve the onboarding experience for new employees.

People development and performance: You improve our approach to personal development and guide managers in creating productive feedback and performance conversations that help people grow.

Culture and values: You strengthen Sitly's culture by helping teams live our values, running workshops, and supporting a positive and inclusive environment across different backgrounds.

Creating the foundations: You will help shape the people foundations we need as we scale, such as implementing simple performance routines, creating learning opportunities for our team, and improving our compensation structure.

People partner for managers: You act as a trusted partner for managers and help them navigate communication, team dynamics, and development topics with clarity and care.

Office & team experience: You will help keep our office welcoming and organised, coordinate daily logistics with our lunch assistant, and organise small team events that bring us closer together.

Out of scope

People operations: This role does not include administrative people operations such as contracts, payroll, HR tools, policy writing, or legal HR. These tasks are owned by another colleague.

Helpful skills

These qualities and experiences would be helpful in this role. You don’t need to meet all of them. If many of these sound like you, we would be happy to meet you.

Hard skills

  • Experience with recruitment across different roles and profiles.

  • Ability to design and improve development and performance processes.

  • Some understanding of culture-building or experience helping teams work together better.

  • A basic sense of how compensation structures work, or curiosity to learn more about them.

  • Familiarity with HR best practices.

  • Ability to create clear documentation and simple frameworks in tools such as Notion and Google Sheets.

Soft skills

  • Proactive and self-driven: You take initiative and create clarity without waiting for direction.

  • Strong communicator: You explain ideas clearly and listen with care.

  • Empathetic: You understand different perspectives and build trust naturally.

  • Structured and organised: You create structure that supports everyone, helping new initiatives land gently with the team.

  • Culturally aware: You work well with diverse teams and support healthy collaboration.

  • Curious and growth-minded: You like learning, experimenting with new approaches, and creating processes that help the team grow over time.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who enjoys a wide-ranging and people-centred role. Someone who brings warmth, structure and follow-through, and who feels energised by helping teams grow. You like taking the lead when something is needed and don’t require detailed guidance to get started. You are hands-on, social, curious about others, and comfortable working with different personalities and backgrounds.

You’re organised and able to move between different tasks such as recruitment, personal development, culture, and manager support with ease.

You're a good listener, communicate clearly and care about building an environment where people feel supported and can be themselves.

You do not need to have all the answers, but you are the kind of person who figures things out through conversations and your own research.

Your profile

  • You have 3 to 5 years of experience in HR or People roles preferably in scale-ups.

  • You’ve been involved in areas like recruitment, culture, and/or personal development before.

  • You understand how to support managers in communication, feedback and team-wellbeing.

  • You’re structured in your approach, communicate openly, and have an eye for detail.

  • You are comfortable working with different cultures and helping teams collaborate effectively.

  • You enjoy improving processes and creating simple and human centred people practices.

You won’t like this job if:

  • You prefer a predictable environment where procedures and tasks are already fully defined.

  • You prefer to specialise in one specific People/HR area.

  • You prefer to work under a Head of People or HR with clear guidance and established expertise.

  • You find it difficult to work with evolving needs or shifting priorities

  • You avoid sensitive conversations or find them draining.

Who will you be working with?

You will report directly to the CEO and work closely with management and team leads. You will also collaborate with everyone across Sitly, since your work supports the full employee experience.
